I prefer to use the term “abandoned orgasm” to describe an orgasm without follow-through stimulation, as you described in your post, above. That’s different from, say a “minimized orgasm” insofar as a minimized orgasm is one in which the intensity of (pleasurable) orgasmic contractions are purposefully and actively reduced. And that’s different from a “painful orgasm”, which is one where pain or other uncomfortable stimulus is added to the bottom’s sensory input at or close before the moment of orgasm in order to divert focus away from the pleasure.

None of these three facets are inherently mutually exclusive, which means that it’s perfectly possible to, for instance, abandon a minized and painful orgasm. (I imagine that would be an intense experience.)

Using these three distinct terms provides much more clarity and precision to the all-too-often miscommunicated ideas of D/s relationships. Let’s please never use “ruined orgasm” again.
