My husband is polite and courteous to all. It is in his nature and one of the things I adore about him.
I do expect him to open doors, and most certainly the car door. I do expect him to take my coat and help me into it when we are out. I do expect him to order what I have told him I want.
I appreciate him holding an umbrella over my head when it rains and walk arm in arm with me.
But most of all I like that fact that he puts my comfort over his own - when I am cold he will offer his coat even when it means being cold himself. The getting stuff from the top floor when I have forgotten something. It is the little things that really matter.

i am in a female-led relationship and my Wife and Mother-in-law have always demanded special courtesies that range from the typical courtesies and deference expected of all men towards all women to a wide range of special rules that apply within our family group. Men are to be pro-active and respond to the needs of women, women are always referred to as Ma,am or whatever term they prefer. There is a way to light a cigarette, pour a drink, and generally show deference. My Wife orders for me in a restaurant, pays the check, and i am expected to follow slightly behind her. In social situations i am to be at Her side and generally supportive of Her. There are so many things that we do in this regard; we'd be pleased to discuss our experiences with anyone via email at nlf21mail@yahoo.com.
